Solidarity with British Gas Workers Strike
People's Assembly Wales stands with British Gas workers in the GMB staging a five-day strike from Thursday against parent company Centrica who want to fire and rehire workers on worst pay and conditions while raking in billions of profits by ripping off the public by charging us the highest energy bills in Europe.
If Centrica are successful with their plan it could impact on all industry in Britain. It could be your company firing and rehiring you in the future. This is why mobilising public support for the biggest strike in the gas industry since the 1970s is essential. Every worker in the land should stand with GMB members on strike.
To Chris O'Shea, Boss of Centrica, we say: Call off your fire and rehire threats. Withdraw the redundancy notices.
To the Government: We say, renationalise the energy companies.
To all the service and repair gas engineers, installers, and electricians across Wales and Britain prepared to sacrifice five days pay in tough economic times in a strike simply to defend your livelihoods against a greedy boss all we can say is: We Love You!
Sign GMB's letter calling on Chris O’Shea, Chief Executive of Centrica, to call off his fire and rehire threats and to withdraw the s188 notice the company has issued covering its 20,000 workers:
